Well, as a civil industrial engineer I'll like to work in the area of retail. That is because in the history of my family, they have always worked in this area. The type of company that I would to work it's the salers of construction materials, like Sodimac or Easy in Chile. They are monsters in his area of work, and are international chains too (they have shops in almost all South america). The type of things that I going to do there are a lot. One of them, are managment works, like organizations between section of the company or between the people of company too. But that I like to do most in my gestion it's the optimization of resourses and the maximitation of profits. I had work by almost a year in a company where I optimized his inventory in nearly tree millions. I hope work like as a professional soon.

In this moment, I am working in the laboratory of investigation for innovation in mineral processing of the University of Santiago. This area is the part of metallurgic that I like. And I think that I will work in this area in rest of my life. I would like to work in a mining company, because it´s has everything that I need to secure my future. In my family, nobody work in the metallurgic area, I am the only one. I hope to have good luck in my life.
ResponderEliminarHi, my name is Joaquín Avilés. I study metallurgical engineering. Metallurgical engineers work processing or extracting metals. I prefer working in the processing of metals because the schedule is much better than when extracting metals. You can have a family and work at the same time because of that. I would like to work in the smelting of steel. The steel is so interesting because it is very used in the world. Alonso Pinto said he likes the schedule of mining companies but I don't like it because I would like to arrive home everyday and when you are in the mine, you are there for 7 days and then you rest 4 days. The advantage of working in a mine is the salary but I prefer a low salary and a better family life.

I pretend work in an industry, at the area of production precesses at the beginning, but i always wanted to have my own company, because i don´t like to spend my life working for others to make them millionaires. Also, like Alonso Pinto spoke of the mining companies, i share the idea that Joaquín Avilés said "The advantage of working in a mine is the salary but I prefer a low salary and a better family life."

The mechanical engineers are able to design, create and maintain all types of machinery and they have a work field very large. When I finish my career, I will work in the company of my father, because he needs a mechanical engineer for maintain his heavy machinery and that these works efficiently. At first, I wanted to work in a mining company, like all mechanical engineers, for the money but it´s a job that requires much time. For now, I just want finish the career and not study more.

ResponderEliminarMy name is Sebastian Orellana and i believe that the best work in all the world as engeneer is the Metalurgical sector, but always for side of materials, like steels and fundries. I don`t like the mining like Alonso, is very boring for me.
ResponderEliminarI think that work away of Santiago is very complicated, because i need my family and my girlfriend in every moment, so if i can work in my own home, i would the most happy person, but i know that these don`t will happen. But work in the Santiago city is a very good option, becouse i`m living there.
Let me see, i study metallurgical engineering and this carreer is not very popular for the normal people because is closely linked to mining. Some of my goals are work in a place where i won a lot of money, i dont care where of their located although i prefer something near to Santiago or around of a big city. In comparison to Sebastián Orellana i need my family and my girlfriend of course, but i think that i can always come to terms with de company.

Hi everyone! My name is Esteban Castillo, and I`m studying biotechnology engineering. It`s a beautyfull career! In Chile, the main investigation field is the green biotechnology (the improvement of wild vegetal species and their uses). There are many studies, for example, about maqui, boldo, caqui, quinoa. Now i`m studying the benefits of the boldo leaves in the human health. I want to work in a laboratory, but without schedules, and win a lot of money of course. If I am a good investigator maybe I`ll can open my own laboratory in a future, and win a Nobel prize. Who knows?

The future for chilean biotechnology will be focus very especified in mining area, That is because Chile is the most important copper producers around the world. I don't know if you had listening about bioloxiviacion, this is the future for me! the biolixiviacion is a method for recovering copper of mine tailings using bacterias sulfate-reducing, is a very interesting subject but is in investigation phase yet. I want to get a patent about this biotechnology advance and win a lot of money selling it to the big mines.
ResponderEliminarHi everyone! I'm studing Chemical Engineer, like Alejandra and Anibal. Is this time I'm preparing my dissertation and for that I'm working at a Biotechnology Laboratory to study an anaerobic process for water treatment and it will be aplicate on UASB reactor. This is a biological process without a huge enviroment impact. Is very important for me dedicate my career and all my technical knowledge to make an engineer aware of the enviroment with clean process and clean alternatives, in this area there are a lot of work to do and so much to contribute. That will be the kind of work that I like to do in my professional future.

Since forever i like materials science, because i like to know about the structure of materials at atomic scales. As Alonso, Javier and Arnoldo, i like the extractive metallurgy area too, because in this area i can earn a lot of money. But i think this job is a very hard because is a lonely life.

Well, my name is Alvaro Pereira. I'm in the last semester of my career, my career is electrical engineering. I work mainly in mining, not for the great opportunities to make money, but for the opportunity to learn about new technologies that can be found working in mining. The work I want to accomplish in mining is the design of new energy systems for the large motors and how to make more efficient use of energy, I would work primarily on engineering costs and project execution the project.
ResponderEliminarHi there, I am Alexis Troncoso, and I´m studing Ingineering in Land Survey. The main work of my career is take measures through positional devices like GPS, to apply corrections of the surfaces of earth required to the proyection used to find the best presition of points on the Earth surface to construct with milimetric precise, this is needed in every proyect that required any kind of construction (roads, bridges, buildings). Due this main field of work, the best place that I could work is in mining, but I am not quite sure yet, because this means that I have to go to the north to work outdoors. I think at the begining it would be great and funny, but a teacher says weeks ago, that she don´t know any land surveyor married, all singles because this kind of work affect a lot a family life. That is the reason that make me search a work more stable , maybe something like work in a consulting company, or maybe work in the IGM (MILITARY GEOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE) doing photointerpretation or something related to satelital positioning.

I think all of us as an engineering carrers (and related to your previous posts), we going to make a lot of money, but at wich cost? I think is important to start to think about it. In my case I think money is important to secure the future, but I don´t want to be rich and don´t give me space to share with my family, my girlfriend and my friends...and after regret to had priorized the money above people I care... money makes happiness?... I think not...

I think that money doesn't make the happiness. But really helps. In my case, like Civil Industrial Engineer; I don't have any idea where I'll work. For the nature of my carrer, we can work in any place and any position of a company; this means that we can since a simple consultant to the CEO. A position like this last one, it means a huge responsability but also means huge rewards. And I think that my family will enjoy that sacrifice. For other side the schedule of a CEO it very relax; like the teachers of my department, so that cost it's not too much.

My family is normal. My mother is the closest person to me, because she is the best women in the world, i love her because she always takes care of me.
